Submission is a very difficult spiritual practice in our culture today. Even the word itself brings up power dynamics, win-lose imagery, and and a type of revolt-based pride for Americans who forged our national identity by refusing to submit to a foreign king. Against this backdrop, submission feels demeaning, oppressive, and dangerous. And yet Jesus says it is the core of the Christian life. So what are we to do with this disconnect? In this teaching we look into the common misunderstandings surrounding the essence of Christ-centered submission, both in the church and in the home. And we discover the invitation into something profoundly beautiful and compelling: mutual submission -- the Way of Jesus!
